Liverpool may not strike the average house buyer as having expensive housing. But if you know where to look, you can find fantastic properties to hide away in, whether your wish is for a huge garden, lots of land, all mod cons or simply the place of your dreams. They are likely to be a bit further away from the city centre, but that’s what you will be paying for. Exclusivity and space. If you are looking for that, read on.
- L25 – Woolton
There is a wide mix of housing in Woolton. Flats are available for under £100,000, houses start around £150,000 and the big 5 and 6-bed properties are generally on the market for £675,000 and above. Woolton is fast becoming a popular place to live, and prices are rising accordingly. There are a number of Beatles connections to Woolton, which could be seen as both help and hindrance to the locals.
- L18 and L19 – Allerton, Mossley Hill, Calderstones, Cressington
Some of the most desirable areas to live in Merseyside fall in L18 and L19. These include upmarket suburbs like Allerton, Mossley Hill, Calderstones and Cressington. Some properties here can sell for between £500,000 and £1,000,000, but the area still attracts a wide variety of people, due to its range of properties. The area has everything from terraced houses to large detached family homes.
- L23 – Blundellsands, Brighton-le-Sands, Crosby, Little Crosby, and Thornton
North West of Liverpool city centre, L23 has seen a 12% increase in property prices over the last five years. Most of the land in what is now L23 and L38 is connected to the Blundell family, and many houses are still subject to ground rent from this historic link. According to property experts Quick Property Buyer Apartments sell from around £125,000 but the family homes with 5 or 6 bedrooms and sea views will cost in the region of £950,000.
- L29 – Lunt and Sefton Village
Housing in L29 has become very sought after recently, with a 13% jump in property value. Lunt and Sefton are both historic villages where semi-detached properties are offered for around £300,000. Average prices are around £230,000 and can rise to nearly £500,000 for the more unusual dwellings.
- L37 – Formby, Little Altcar, Great Altcar, Freshfield
These areas are around 30 minutes drive from Liverpool centre, and have a wide variety of housing. Average property prices are upwards of £335,000. Formby is a coastal location and attracts as many tourists as locals due to its wildlife. Many of the houses advertised for sale to cash buyers are large, family properties with large gardens of several acres. One of these will carry a price tag of around £1,000,000. 2-bed houses start from around £250,000.
Even in these affluent areas, there is still a range of properties to suit all budgets, but they are rightly known for their high-end large family houses.
